Cats need grooming for several important reasons, even though they are known for grooming themselves. Here are the main benefits of professional grooming for cats:
1. Preventing Matting 2. Reducing Shedding and Hairballs 3. Maintaining Skin and Coat Health 4. Preventing Overgrown Nails 5. Easing the Grooming Burden for Old, Overweight, or Arthritic Cats 6. Checking for Health Issues like Skin Conditions, Parasites, Lumps and etc. 7. Managing Odor 8. Improving Comfort in Certain High Maintenance Breeds like Persians or Maine Coons
Regular grooming keeps cats looking and feeling their best while supporting their overall health and well-being.
At Furberry and Co., the safety and well-being of all pets are our top priorities. To ensure this, we enforce a maximum stay time of four hours for both safety and compliance reasons. Dogs and cats are kept in separate, secure spaces, with fresh water available at all times. Please let us know in advance if treats are allowed for your pet during their stay.
We kindly ask that you arrive on time for your appointment to help us maintain a smooth schedule and ensure every pet is groomed promptly. Once your pet’s grooming session is complete, we will notify you immediately. Please plan to pick up your pet as soon as possible to support their comfort, safety, and health.
We are specialised in Breeding Specific Grooming. Each dog breed is unique, with specific grooming needs depending on their coat type, length, and style. To preserve their distinct appearance, our groomers apply specialized techniques tailored to each breed. The time and effort required for grooming can vary greatly, especially when compared to a typical long-coated dog. As a result, pricing may differ from our standard price list. For instance, grooming a 25 kg Samoyed demands considerably more time and effort than a 25 kg Golden Retriever due to its double coat and tendency to mat.
Yes, you can. There is no extra charge on bringing your own shampoos and towel here in Furberry and Co.
Some dog coats are more prone to matting due to their fur type and environmental factors. Our skilled groomers will assess how much length can be preserved using de-shedding techniques. However, in cases where the matting is too close to the skin, it can pose significant health risks. Severe matting can impair a dog’s mobility and restrict blood flow, particularly to sensitive areas like the ears and tail. At that point, the focus shifts to the dog’s overall wellbeing. Removing mats requires expertise, patience, and precision to prevent cuts, nicks, and undue stress on the dog, ensuring the process is as gentle and safe as possible.
Some dogs’ nails grow too long due to a lack of activity on hard surfaces, which naturally wear them down. Overgrown nails can cause the foot to adopt an unnatural position, potentially leading to arthritis over time. Additionally, if left unchecked, dew claws can grow into the skin, causing pain and discomfort.
The groomers will pluck and clean the ears gently on most dogs and check them for signs of infection. We won’t however deep clean as this is better done by the vet.
Unless your double-coated dog is severely matted, we typically recommend a de-shedding treatment and/or a tidy-up instead of shaving. Their coat naturally regulates temperature, helping to release heat in summer and grow an insulating undercoat for warmth in winter. Shaving can damage this natural system, causing the guard hairs to shorten with each shave. Over time, the softer undercoat may outgrow the protective guard hairs, compromising the coat’s natural function, appearance, and making it more prone to matting in the future.
